About our professors:
Dr. Sarita Stewart (also known as Dr. S.): Sarita Stewart is an assistant professor of entertainment industry studies in the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Stewart has extensive music industry experience, having served in various executive capacities throughout her career, including Director of Marketing at Curb Records and U.S. Marketing Manager at AKG Acoustics. Her research interests focus upon the relationship between music artists and their audience, which was the focus of her 2013 dissertation work, Artist-Fan Engagement Model: Implications for Music Consumption and The Music Industry. Stewart has published several book chapters, including an essay on LeAnn Rimes’s album Blue in Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself: Essays on Debut Albums (Ashgate). Her most recent chapter “TV, Radio, and Music Research” in collaboration with Dr. Louisa Ha of Bowling Green State University and Jeff Green of Stone Door Media Lab, was published in Research Methods in Communication (Third Edition) (Vision Press). Dr. Stewart received her Ph.D. in mass communication from The University of Alabama.
Dr. Scott Hawley served as postdoctoral scientist in numerical modeling of gravitational wave sources at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Gravitatsionsphysik in Postdam, Germany for two years during which he lived in central Berlin. Later he joined the Physics faculty at Belmont University in Nashville, where he has applied his loves of music and teaching to classes in Acoustics and Electronics for students majoring in Audio Engineering Technology. His activities include developing interactive computational tools to aid in the teaching of audio-related physics concepts, and performing as a singer-songwriter.
